Dear 24 and Thank You 23

Crap.* It happened again.

Today is my 24th birthday. This year I am going to start a new tradition that my older sister, Liz, taught me. Every year she writes down goals on her birthday that she wants to achieve by her next birthday. If you have ever met my sister, you know that she achieves every goal she wrote down, and then becomes president of whatever it was, and then sends handmade thank you notes to everyone who helped her get there. This year I want to do the things I love. It took my 23 1/2 years to figure out what I love, and now I want do them. I probably only have  a few years left of total selfishness, so this is the year to:

1) Start a blog (Check)

2) Get more than just my family and Jordan to read the blog

3) Marry my best friend

4) Run a marathon (Okay, half marathon) (Okay, just the Living History Farm Mud Run)

5) Overhaul my closet

6) Join more organizations and get more involved in Des Moines

7) Be the best wife, sister, daughter, assistant, pet mother, friend that I possibly can be (Sorry, I had to have at least one cheesy one in there)

Although I have never written down goals on my birthday before, I have written the things that I am grateful the previous year gave me. 23 was definitely the biggest and best year for me so far, except for year 7. Nothing will ever be better than year 7. Coincidentally, that is also the year my mom tells me I stopped maturing…

Thank you 23 for:

1) Eric

2) Skinnier jeans (Apparently, a foot long at Subway is NOT a snack)

3) Graduating college…even if it was with a degree I’ll never use

4) My job

5) Tippy, Toby, Ridley

6) Realizing that I really do control my own destiny

Dear 24, let’s kick some ass this year.

Thank you 23.

 * Sorry I said “crap”, Mom.
