Happy Halloween

Halloween 2011

I freaking love Halloween. It’s my favorite holiday because it combines my two favorite activities: getting dressed up and eating. Every year I look forward to it, but this year I didn’t prepare for it. We went to a party at a friends, and Eric and I showed up without costumes. Apparently, you can’t just be “cute” for Halloween. My friend gave me a pair of devil ears so I didn’t go out without a costume. My sister, Liz, asked me what I was dressing up as after I put on the devil ears. “I’m wearing devil ears…” I said.

“Oh, I didn’t notice.”

Great…

We went to a bar after the party and became the judging committee of everyone’s costume. We lined up chairs and tried to figure out what everyone was as they walked by. Next year we will need scoring cards. My devil ears quickly turned into me dressing up as my alter ego, Katrina. Katrina has been around for many years and I have really grown to embrace her. She gets what she wants and she is completely unapologetic about it.

I love Katrina, but I’m not sure everyone else does.

My favorite costume of the night was my friend who wrapped streamers and balloons around herself, wore a party hat, and went as a “party.” So awesome.

For beggers night, Eric and I shut off all the lights so we didn’t have to pass out candy, put the dogs away so they wouldn’t bark uncontrollably every time the door bell rang, and ate pizza in our pajamas.

Ahhh, romance.

Happy Halloween, MDGC friends!!
